It's almost official: the next BlackBerry smartphone, which the Canadians from Research in Motion will launch on the market in 2012 will actually be a "superphone" which will run on a QNX operating system for tablets(also used by BlackBerry Playbook).
The operating system was developed by producing the same name and was adopted by RIM after its purchase last year. The Canadians have also announced that the OS will be used from now on, on all its mobile handsets. Like other "traditional" BlackBerry products, the Colt will offer the famous QWERTY keyboard and fulltouch screen support. In contrast, however, to other recent smartphone devices, Colt will have a single-core processor at 1.2 GHz or 1.5 - which gives the device a handicap start compared to the competing products with Android OS, which are equipped with multi-core processors.
The BlackBerry Colt handset is already in the pre-release stage, subject to verification tests in RIM's software department .
