Last time I was looking for an iPhone 3Gs killer in the BlackBerry range but the iPhone was a little bit better than the BlackBerrys product so I thought that it would be more similar to the iPhone 3G so let’s see.
First, the iPhone 3G weights 133 grams while the BlackBerry Storm2 weights 160 grams which makes quite a big difference between the way that you feel these phones into your hands.
Still, the iPhone 3G was released on July 2008 while the Blackberry Storm2 was released on November 2009 which gives a plus to the RIM product.
Also, the iPhone 3G has a 3.5” display while the BlackBerry Storm2 has a smaller display of just 3.25”.
The iPhone 3G also has an internal memory of 8GB or 16GB while the BlackBerry Storm2 has only 2GB of internal memory.
Still, the iPhone 3G has a 2MP camera while the BlackBerry Storm2 has a 3.15MP which is also a big difference but in the BlackBerry Storm2’s favor.
I was expecting this time for the BlackBerry Storm2 to win having a 400 MHz processor while the iPhone 3G has a 412 MHz so you can think that they are similar. I’m surprised to see that the BlackBerry Storm2 has 256MB of RAM memory while the iPhone 3G has half of that namely 128MB. So the conclusion is that you can replace the iPhone 3G with a BlackBerry Storm2 but I still don’t think you will get the same performances.
