BlackBerry app review: Pilot My-Cast by Garmin

Pilot My-Cast is an app used by professional pilots to gather a lot of info about the weather and forecasts and the flight conditions as a whole. The app gives just amazing amount of info you would want. Its like sitting with a complete weather forecast, flight adviser, all at the same time.

2222 BlackBerry app review: Pilot My Cast by Garmin

The app gives details that according to me, none of the other apps provide. The app makes it very easy to  page through surface meteorological reports, terminal forecasts and observations and advisories immediately as they surface. The app also gives you an actual radar and satellite imagery from the satellites. So you get a whole better picture and can easily take your decision.

Also, there is an easy flight plan filing via DUATs METARs. This is displayed in both text and graphic formats. So there is no way you can miss on any info. You can even get 24 hours of TAF forecasts. Other details provided by the app include current flight conditions, visibility, altimeter, wind direction, speed, temperature, dew point, time of observation, lightning data and a lot lot more. You think any other app gives you all this info?

Anyway, Handango has the app for sale on its website. The Pilot My-Cast by Garmin app for your BlackBerry$9.95 per month comes to you for . You can get more info about the app and buy it from Handango from here.

Well, the name is kind of funny, but its got some real cool features in it. Lets take a look. Firstly, it automatically blocks thousands of those telemarketing calls. You know how irritating it is when some one calls you and you leave all your work to answer the phone and if its a telemarketing call, its get into your nerves. You can forget that with this app. The app maintains a list of these telemarketing numbers. This list is updated daily so that you dont get bugged by new telemarketing numbers.

BlackPad: BlackBerry’s Tablet coming soon

BlackBerry is making its home work for entering the tablet market after a big bang in the smartphone sector. RIM, the manufacturer of BlackBerry recently acquired a software company by name QNX Software Systems. QNX has a history of developing softwares and integrated systems for home appliances and your car electronics, also for business sectors and industrial and medical fields. RIM bought QNX Software Systems for $2M.

BlackPad Mockup 600x351 300x175 BlackPad: BlackBerrys Tablet coming soon

QNX is said to have been building and testing the operating system for BlackBerry's BlackPad. One of RIM's internal sources has said that the new, yet to be released BlackPad, is being built around corporate email systems, mainly though. RIM will maintain its unbeaten security system and corporate expertise in the product. But the BlackPad will not be having any kind of radio systems embedded to it The only wireless communication options would be the Bluetooth and WiFi.

I wonder how the actual final version of the tablet be like. BlackBerry may rock the world of tablets also. The major competition for the BlackPad would be the iPad, obviously, and the Android tablets that are popping up in the market and a lot more that are under development. But the problem with the iPad is mostly that it has become more of an entertainment product, something like a multimedia device and less of a corporate business tablet. Would you agree with this? BlackBerry is known for its awesome corporate friendly services and the BlackPad is, by no means, made to survive in the market for a long, long time. Share your views in the comments section.
