BlackBerry app review: Tring Me, VoIP over WiFi

For the first time ever, here is an app which will let you make VoIP calls from your BlackBerry phone over WiFi. This app will not use your voice minutes. Tring Me is an Indian based communications company and has come up with the Tring Me app for BlackBerry phones.

111 BlackBerry app review: Tring Me, VoIP over WiFi

Apps such as this were already present for the Symbian, iPhone, Android and Windows Mobile. But BlackBerry users never had such a chance. A lot of the existing VoIP apps make use of your voice minutes. But Tring Me needs only WiFi, and you get WiFi at almost all public places these days. So no matter if you are at an airport, restaurant, coffee shop or anywhere else, you can connect to the local WiFi and start making calls. Easy!!

So if you think you want such an app for your BlackBerry, head over to the official website here and sign up. Singing up is easy, you just need to provide your name and email to them. As usual, you will get an email with no delay with the sign up  link. Once you are done, you have to authorize your phone. Provide your phone number on the website and they will call you with instructions and a security code. Enter that code and you are good to go. You can choose to be reached on your phone or GTalk or be offline or a few more options. You even get your own phone number, so that people can reach you with that.

Good features. Try it out today. Get Tring Me on your BlackBerry now. The official website is here.

BlackBerry Torch 98001 300x300 BlackBerry Torch to be launched in Canada with a lot of partying

The new is that the company will have launch parties on the company's home turf. Sources say that the BlackBerry Torch launch party in Canada has been scheduled on 21st of Sep. On 21st, the launch party will be in Toronto. This will be followed by another launch party for the device in Vancouver the next day, and then the next day yet another launch party in Montreal. So its a three day launch party, from 21st of Sep to 23rd of Sep.

But there is no info about the fact that these dates will also be the official release dates for the device also. This is yet to be known. It is also said that BlackBerry will be giving away 25 units of the BlackBerry Torch free at each launch party. So there you go, another attraction. RIM is spending a lot of money and time on this device. Dont know if the device will live up to all the hype.

Indian Government reminds RIM of the ban

Research in Motion, or RIM, the maker of BlackBerry phones, has agreed to provide the encrypted data to Indian security agencies already, but has said that the data can be provided in a deferred manner. This means that the Govt has to give the Canadian company  the details such as the phone number and the date and day of the required data. The company will then crack the server open at Canada and give the required data to the security agency. But this would require a time of 10 days.

tmo93001 Indian Government reminds RIM of the ban

The Indian Govt says that this is unacceptable. The terrorist may plan and execute a terrorist attack in a span of 10 days. The Indian Govt has asked RIM to give them the real time data and to all the phones, not just the particular phones that the Govt should specify. RIM agreed to give the permission to the Govt when it had threatened to ban the services like voice, SMS and internet. Now, from Sep 1st, the Govt has said that it will put a ban on BlackBerry Enterprise Services, or BES and BlackBerry Messenger Services, or BMS, will be banned if RIM does not agree to its conditions. RIM now has only 6 days left to give its decisions.

A lot of negotiations have been happening daily between RIM and Indian security officials. It is yet to see if anything positive will come out of this.

BlackBerry Torch for £570 in the UK???

A website has listed the BlackBerry Torch for sale in the UK with a bankrupting price tag of £570. Expansys is the company which is taking orders for the very latest phone from RIM, the BlackBerry Torch. Expensive than the 16GB version of the iPhone 4, which is available for £500, and a lot closer to the 32GB version of the iPhone 4, which is available for £600, does the Torch really sell for this high a price?

11 BlackBerry Torch for £570 in the UK???

Expansys has to make the BlackBerry Torch to come down to Earth a little more if it wants to play the game safe.Or it may lose a chance. With the HTC ruling the Android world, its similar offering, the HTC Desire, sells at £350 and less if you do a bit a shop juggling.

The BlackBerry Torch is the first device from RIM that sports a capacitive touch screen and a slide out QWERTY keypad. The sure press technology of the BlackBerry Storm series dint catch up quiet well, to be frank. The BlackBerry Torch will also feature the new BlackBerry OS 6, which is much hyped and waited for. The phone has multi touch interface, making it a very current technology phone. Its support for social networking websites also gives it quiet a push. But the question is, can BlackBerry Torch really sell itself out for £570 with so much competition in the close vicinity of the phone?
