The obvious difference between these two smartphones is the interface namely that Nokia 5800 comes with touch screen while the BlackBerry Curve 8900 comes with a full qwerty keyboard. Also, both phones have been released in the same year and month namely November 2008.
Here is a very tiny difference that can not be felt I think namely that Nokia 5800 weights 109 grams while the BlackBerry Curve 8900 weights 110 grams so there is a difference of only 1 gram.
So Nokia 5800 has a display of 3.2 inches and 360x640 pixels while the BlackBerry Curve 8900 has surprisingly a bigger display of 3.4 inches and 480x360 pixels so here the BlackBerry product is the winner.
At the internal memory, also BlackBerry Curve 8900 wins having 256 MB of ROM memory while the Nokia 5800 has only 81 MB of ROM memory but as you should know, Nokia 5800 comes with a microSD card of 8GB being able to expand the memory up to 16GB and BlackBerry Curve 8900 supports the same amount of external memory.
Here comes a very big minus at the BlackBerry Curve 8900 namely that it doesn’t have 3G connection while the Nokia 5800 has a 3G HSDPA 3.6 Mbps connection but both phones are featuring Wi-Fi connectivity.
Both phones are having a 3.15 MP camera with 2048x1536 pixels but comparing to the BlackBerry Curve 8900, Nokia 5800 comes with Carl Zeiss optics and dual LED flashes while the BlackBerry Curve 8900 has only one LED flash.
As usually, the BlackBerry Curve 8900 has the BlackBerry OS on it while the Nokia 5800 has the famous Symbian OS v9.4, Series 60 rel. 5 on it and I still prefer the Symbian but probably because I never used the BlackBerry OS and I don’t know what it can do.
The Nokia 5800 comes with the ARM 11 434 MHz processor while the BlackBerry Curve 8900 has a 512 MHz processor.
As usually, both phones are featuring GPS connectivity but I think that the Nokia 5800 fits much better with this feature than the BlackBerry because of the helpful applications for it on the internet.
Also, the BlackBerry Curve 8900 comes only with the black color while the Nokia 5800 is from the XpressMusic “family” it comes with the following colors: red, gray and blue.
There is a tiny difference at the battery because Nokia 5800 has a battery of 1320 mAh while the BlackBerry Curve 8900 has only 1400 mAh.
This fight was very close so I let you decide the winner, also letting you know that the prices for a new unlocked Nokia 5800 are starting from $289 while the prices for a new unlocked BlackBerry Curve 8900 are starting from $299 so they are having almost the same price.
