Nokia N900 vs BlackBerry Bold 9700

By | March 5, 2010

blackberry bold 9700 official Nokia N900 vs BlackBerry Bold 9700Here is the last comparison between Nokia N900 and a BlackBerry product which this time will be the BlackBerry Bold 9700. First I want to remember you that this is not the first time when I talk about this BlackBerry Bold 9700 on this blog so if you want a review of the phone, you can search on this blog.

Just after looking on few specifications of the phones, I can say that this is the most similar phone built by BlackBerry to Nokia N900 excluding the design. As usually, this BlackBerry Bold 9700 has a regular 2.44” 480x360 display while Nokia N900 has a 3.5” 800x480 touch screen display. Anyway, both phones are featuring full qwerty keyboard but Nokia N900 has a sliding keyboard because of the touch screen.

The similar feature that I like is the 3.5mm audio jack and I hope I will never stop saying this because there will be a phone not featuring this.

Here is a weak point of Nokia N900 namely the battery. As you should know if you read the other comparisons, Nokia N900 is featuring a 1320 mAh battery while this BlackBerry Bold 9700 is featuring a 1500 mAh battery.

Usually, here Nokia N900 was winning which features 32GB of internal memory but this time, the BlackBerry Bold 9700 is featuring a microSD slot car which supports up to 32GB external memory but still, Nokia N900 is the winner because after adding a microSD card, it will exceed the BlackBerry Bold 9700.

BlackBerry Bold 9700 has the same “power” as Nokia N900 namely a 624 Mhz processor and also 256 MB of RAM memory because as I said, these phones are very similar. Also, both phones are featuring Wi-Fi and GPS but Nokia N900 has 3.5G connection while BlackBerry Bold 9700 doesn’t get 3G connection which is a big minus.

Here may be quite a big difference but this is not the most important thing talking about phones. Anyway, I have to say that Nokia N900 has a 5 MP camera while BlackBerry Bold 9700 has a 3.2 MP camera but I don’t think that after making some photos, the difference will be so big if there will be any difference.

According to eBay, the prices for a new unlocked BlackBerry Bold 9700 are starting from $348.88 while the prices for a new unlocked Nokia N900 are starting from $468.00.

Looking at the specifications of both phones and especially at the prices of them, I think that BlackBerry Bold 9700 would be a very good replacer for Nokia N900.

I have a blackberry. Its nice. But, Blackberry doesnt make any product that comes close to the N900. You leave out all the important parts, like screen real estate, dedicated gpu, hardware 3d, Maemo 5 (Best OS out there now).

Seriously man. Have you even gotten a chance to handle a N900?

    Rgds,

Your comparison is not the most objective, you can get mo detailed ones off the net.. BB makes good phones, but none compares to the N900. I have used a Bold 9700, and ryt nw m typing on a N900..worlds apart!

Skype call works justmfine, as long as your signal strentgh is over 2.5G then you good to go..

Hey guys … i have used nokia n900 for quite a long time … and its just a waste of money..
the new memow has nothing new in it…
i have never seen such a waste by nokia …
i was earlyer using nokia n8 which is much more batter phone then both of these…..
and now i m using B.B bold 2…. well not the best but i can say that it is batter then nokia n900..
and ya the main drow back in nokia n900 is that it dose not supports any App..
the battery life is t shot..
and the g.p.s in it dosent works properly…
my ranking is nokia n 8.. and then bold 2 and last of all nokia n900…..
