Nokia N900 vs BlackBerry Curve 8900

By Netoiu Andrei | March 3, 2010

thumb Nokia N900 vs BlackBerry Curve 8900As I previously promised, I’m going to compare again the Nokia N900 with a BlackBerry product or much exactly, with the BlackBerry Curve 8900 as you probably saw in the title. The obvious difference is the design of these two phones. Nokia N900 has a touch screen while BlackBerry Curve 8900 doesn’t. Anyway, here still exists a resemblance between these two namely the full qwerty keyboard. BlackBerry Curve 8900 is based on the full qwerty keyboard while Nokia N900 also got a qwerty keyboard on the touch screen so this is not the base navigation keyboard at Nokia.

Another resemblance would be that both phones are considered smartphones but now we will fall deeply into details to see the differences. As usually, I like start talking saying the size of the screens so BlackBerry Curve 8900 has a 2.4 inch screen with a resolution of 480x360 while Nokia N900 has a 3.5 inch screen with a resolution of 800x480.

Last time I couldn’t chose one design that I like mostly but this time I am more than sure that BlackBerry Curve 8900 attracts much more my attention than Nokia N900.

The cool thing at both of these phones is that they are coming with 3.5mm jack which I think that became a must have for any phone.

People are considering that the trackball is very useful from BlackBerry Curve 8900 and you should know that Nokia N900 doesn’t get a trackball because it got a big touch screen.

Some people are considering the Nokia N900 kind of a laptop so that the phone is bigger than BlackBerry Curve 8900 so if you don’t want to lose your pants with the 180 grams of the Nokia N900, you should get a BlackBerry Curve 8900.

Talking about the operating systems, I don’t know what to say if you ask which one is great, both of them are having some bugs which may be fixed with future updates.

If you like to do photos, you should know that BlackBerry Curve 8900 comes with a 3.2 MP camera and also a LED flash light while Nokia N900 comes with a 5.0 MP camera so this is quite a big difference.

I have to say that comparing to the other Nokia products, this N900 comes with a Maemo operating system and as someone said, it is Symbian smelling like Linux.

Falling deeper, I have to say that Nokia N900 can’t send MMS comparing to BlackBerry Curve 8900 which can do that so you have to think about it but if you’re like me, namely that I don’t know if I sent more than 3 MMS in my entire life, that feature is useless.

If you like to use your phone as a navigation device, there is no problem, or there it may be because both of them are coming with the GPS feature so you may don’t know what to exclude this time. Also, both of them are featuring Wi-Fi connection.

The battery of BlackBerry Curve 8900 has 1400 mAh while the battery of Nokia N900 has 1320 mAh but this is a small difference.

A very big difference is that Nokia N900 has an internal memory of 32 GB while BlackBerry Curve 8900 doesn’t get an internal memory but both of them got a microSD slot card.

Here comes the interesting part namely that BlackBerry Curve 8900 has a processor of 512 Mhz and a 256 MB of RAM memory while Nokia N900 hasa processor of 600 Mhz which is bigger than the BlackBerry’s processor but it got the same amount of RAM memory namely 256 MB.

The prices for a new unlocked Nokia N900 are starting from $468 while the prices for a BlackBerry Curve 8900 are starting from $280.

    adam is right.
the n900 CAN send MMS. and I dont really care about the weight and size .. all I care about is whats inside it!
but I am scared of the touch screen..I wonder if it can be ruined quickley.. but the BB’s ball can brake by one fall and then it will be useless.. but the touch with a cover.. NO PROBZ!
so I think that Imma stick with the n900.. what do you guys think??!
