Here is the last comparison between Nokia N97 and a BlackBerry product namely the Bold 9700. First I want to say that yesterday I saw the first time a Nokia N97 in reality and it was looking really sexy but the operating system was slower than I thought, I mean that I was expecting to be pretty fast but it isn’t so.

Anyway, first I want to say in this comparison that the BlackBerry Bold 9700 is making part to the latest generation of phones or much exactly, Nokia N97 have been announced in 2008, November while BlackBerry Bold 9700 have been announced in 2009, October so there is a difference of time of almost a year.

As usually, the Nokia N97 is heavier weighting 150 grams while the BlackBerry Bold 9700 is lighter weighting 122 grams but there is a small difference of just 28 grams.

Here comes a big difference namely that the BlackBerry Bold 9700 has only 65K colors while the Nokia N97 has 16M colors. Also, Nokia N97 has a 3.5” 640x360 touch screen display while the BlackBerry Bold 9700 has a 2.44” 480x366 display so if you look for the sizes, there is a difference of more than 1”.

Also, both phones are featuring full physical qwerty keyboard but the Nokia N97 has also the feature of hand writing because of the touch screen but I tell you that I personally tested that and it is a good feature but it takes too much to write something or at last if you’re not used to it. I saw that Nokia N97 has accelerometer which is pretty cool comparing to BlackBerry Bold 9700 that doesn’t have this.

A very cool thing at Nokia N97 is that it features stereo speakers while BlackBerry Bold 9700 doesn’t. Anyway, as always, both phones are having 3.5mm audio jack.

Nokia N97 comes with the unforgettable 32GB of internal memory while BlackBerry Bold 9700 has only 256MB of internal memory but it also comes with a microSD card of 2GB being able to put up to 16GB of external memory.

Both phones are having Wi-Fi and 3G HSDPA 3.6 mbps connectivity which is very important if you buy the phones as internet devices.

Nokia N97 comes with the big 5MP 2592x1944 camera while the BlackBerry Bold 9700 comes with a camera of only 3.15 MP 2048x1536 pixels.

A very unique feature at the new Nokia devices is the FM transmitter and of course that this Nokia N97 does have that feature while the BlackBerry Bold 9700 doesn’t.

The last feature that I want to mention is the GPS. Of course, both phones namely Nokia N97 and BlackBerry Bold 9700 are featuring GPS connectivity which probably became a must have for all smartphones.

Also, according to eBay, the prices for a new unlocked Nokia N97 are starting from $480 while the prices for a new unlocked BlackBerry Bold 9700 are starting from $430 so there is not a big difference talking about the prices. Honestly, I would rather buy a Nokia N97 than a BlackBerry Bold 9700 talking about the prices and specifications.
