Blackberry Tour 9630
Today I finally got a chance to get my hands on the new Blackberry Tour from Verizon. I must admit after using my Storm for so long, I forgot how nice it is to have a device that responds quickly, and the Tour does not disappoint.
This really is an all in one device for anyone who wants a fully featured Blackberry. Out of the box the Tour comes with a data cable, foreign outlet plug-in attachments (as it is a global phone with pre-installed SIM), and 2GB micro-SD memory card.
On board comes a 3.2mp camera with video. The brilliant 480 by 360 resolution screen made me sigh an “I’m in love with phone” sigh. The Tour has streaming video support without the need to download any application. And of course it comes stock with the Blackberry media player that we’re familiar with.
Taking a look at the hardware, you can see the standard send, Blackberry menu, escape, and end keys, as well as the trackball. About that trackball…it has the smoothest feel of any other BerryI’ve used! It feels like it’s gliding rather than rolling. It is virtually the same height and width of the Storm, but it is a tad bit slimmer. Right and left convenience keys are in their respective places with the volume controls on the right. The LED indicator light is still in the upper right-hand corner to let you know you have a missed call, new text or email, etc.
What makes this phone so great is how d*mn fast it is! Everything I clicked on seemed to happen instantaneously. The quick interface allows seamless navigation of all the Tour's functions. Downlaoding and exploring apps, such as app world, is a breeze. As soon as I'm eligible, this is the Blackberry device that I will be upgrading to!.....One more added tid bit.......I used the phone for 4 hours: making calls, texting, email, and a lot of web browsing......I lost half a bar of battery. Impressive!
